Renderings and Rapid Iterations on Paper

Nike x 4T Trail

Designing a shoe manufactured by Nike, in collaboration with the 4T Trail, located in Portland, Oregon.

The green color-way is inspired by the natural elements of the trail, and the added features, such as the large, textured sole, and two magnetic straps, provide extra stability.

Though not advised to run on the trail at night, there is a reflective fluid located in a capsule on the rear of the shoe, so cars and other people can see you.

Fragrance Bottles

Practicing rapid sketching, I first drew 81 perfume bottles to experiment with form and thumbnail sketching. Then I chose 9 to fully render, then choosing 1 to make a poster from.

Above is the poster, designed in a fantasy style, aimed to be both a display piece and a stylish fragrance, as it is applied onto the cords you wrap around your wrist.

DJI Osmo Poster

Practicing sketching real products in front of me, I sketched this DJI Osmo camera, and created a poster around the sketches.

Included are a full perspective, zoomed in image of the camera, a side profile, and a thumbnail sketch of the camera turned off.

Render Study #1

Choosing a sketch complete by @SketchyPat, I replicated his style and render to practice different styles used by professionals.

I learned how to sketch different materials, and how to utilize a "sketchy" style in a useful manner.

Render Study #2

Re-doing a sketch done by @Steven_de_groot, I experimented yet again with a sketchy style. This time, I let the lines go over, and make the perspective clear.

Orange Observation

Studying oranges, and what makes them unique, I composed a poster with a Japanese layout and design to make observations and really observe the fruit.

Only allowed to use a single colored marker, I chose a bright orange alcohol marker, and layered it to create depth. Using fineliners and a white gel pen, I added details.

Orange Analysis

The second part of the orange study, this one aimed to analyze the fruit, giving exact dimensions and provide insight to the inside of it.

This also has a Japanese design element, where I created a simple literally flowing layout with a wave, guiding the eye.

Fantastical Fragrance

3 of the 9 fully rendered perfume bottles, these are all a part of the "fantasy" category. All build on elements of whimsy, and are meant to be something found in a traders shop, or something an adventurer might have on them.

Sci-Fi Frangrance

Another 3 of 9 fully rendered perfume bottles, these are a part of the "sci-fi" category. All made from white plastic with streamlined contours, these resemble products from the future.

Experimenting with application methods, I asked, 'what if it was meant to be injected to last longer?' and the fragrance injection gun was born.

A Mix of Bottles

The final 3 of 9 rendered bottles, these are a mix of the categories not fully chosen, with inspiration being taken from famous chairs, geometric objects, and nature.

Form and Perspective

A collection of sketches practicing the fundamentals of sketching in 2 point perspective. Using mainly grey Copic markers for shading, and a black fineliner for outlines, I practiced using lineweight, perspective, and shading to get these sketches just right.
